What size post cover do I need?

Zip-A-Pole Post CoverMost posts in the garage are 3.5″ to 4″ in diameter. The problem is measuring the diameter of a post that has already been installed can sometimes be a little bit of guess work. So the question is what is the best way to measure the post.

A 3.5″ post is 11″ in circumference. In English that means if you flattened it out it would be about 11″. Lucky for us, most sheets of printer paper  are 11″ long. Take a sheet of printer paper and wrap it around the post. You should be holding the paper in the ‘landscape’ orientation. If it wraps around perfectly you have a 3.5″ post. If it does not….

Chances are you have about 1.5″ left as 4″ poles  are 12.5″ in circumference. Just to be certain grab a piece of string, permanent marker and a tape measure. Mark the string at 12.5″ and wrap it around the post. if the end of the string and your marking touch end to end, you have a 4″ pole.

We carry covers for both sizes of posts and you can order them here
