GhostShield Concrete Densifiers and Sealers

You have just built the house of your dreams, or perhaps it’s your first home. It has that new home smell, everything is perfectly clean and the concrete is so clean you could eat off of it. You pull your classic car into the driveway, pull out the next morning and your dream is tarnished. Your concrete is covered in a big ugly oil spot. The water repellant you applied did nothing. This is preventable! NEW GhostShield has just announced that a single flood coat of Ghostshield Siloxa-Tek 8510 can be used for residential applications and is actually more effective than two coats of 8505! Use coverage estimate of 300 Sq. Ft. Per Gallon and apply to complete saturation. This method is NOT in the instructions or coverage calculator. The flood coat method is for 8510 over power troweled smooth concrete that has been primed with 4500. For hand troweled or rough concrete we suggest two coats.

What is Ghostshield Siloxa-Tek 8505

Siloxa-Tek 8505 Concrete Sealer from Ghostshield is a penetrating concrete oil repellant sealer that has zero impact on traction or the appearance of concrete. Typically used in conjunction with a concrete densifier, Siloxa-Tek 8505 resist mold and mildew growth, repels water, oil and other automotive fluids — protecting your garage floor, driveway and other masonry surfaces from staining. Used in conjunction with a densifier, it reduce cracking and Chloride Ion ingress. A simple and affordable solution with a 100 year warranty.

The Clear Choice. Protection, not Appearance

Ghostshield Siloxa-Tek 8505 makes absolutely no change to the looks of your garage floor, sidewalk or driveway. It is a penetrating sealer with the addition of a fluorocarbon to aid in the prevention of oil stains or the absorption of other automotive fluids. If you would prefer a permanent product that adds sheen or gloss, consider TrueLock PPC.

The Process

The first step is cleaning the concrete and removing any existing sealers or coatings. Then you need to densify the concrete. You should wait 7 days after densification before proceeding with the GhostShield Siloxa-Tek 8505 Oil Repellent Sealer. You should apply two coats. Wet on wet, typically only waiting 5 minutes between coats in any one area — so you work in smaller sections. Please see the installation instructions. PLEASE VERIFY WHICH PRODUCT YOU HAVE AND IF IT NEEDS TO BE DILUTED.

What is Ghostshield Siloxa-Tek 8510

Ghostshield Siloxa-Tek 8510 offers all the protection of 8505 in a superior penetrating formula. 300 Sq. Ft. per gallon coverage, this solvent based concrete sealer easily repels oil and water while being easier to install and offering better overall penetration and performance. For best results using a densifier 7 days prior is suggested. We suggest Lithi-Tek 4500 mixed with 3-5 gallons of water. See notes below. VOC 300 g/l. A solvent safe sprayer is suggested. Not all inexpensive sprayers are safe for solvent-based applications.

Why Is it So Expensive

Unlike traditional penetrating sealers and waterproofers, Ghostshield 8505 is scientifically formulated and proven to withstand automotive chemicals. Typical sealers may afford some short term protection, but if you are worried about constant exposure to oil you would want the 8505. The superior technology and additional ingredients make the product more expensive. Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

The Limitations

enetrating sealers are not resistant to all chemicals. Also after a period of time, oil and even water will ‘punch through.’ Ghostshield 8505 and 8510 are highly effective when properly installed. They are effective against water, salts and oil as well as some other products.

Easy on the Densifier

It is very very important that you do not over apply the densifier (or 8505 for that matter). Do not allow it to puddle. Apply only what soaks in immediately. Depending on your application, 4500 may need to be diluted before application. If using as a primer before sealing with 8505 or 8510, dilute 1:1 with distilled water. If you are using the 4500 alone to densify concrete prior to polishing, apply undiluted. Over application of densifier or 8505 will cause horrible white area that is tough to remove. Depending upon how much is applied it can usually be removed with a nylon bristled broom, if heavily over applied a floor buffing machine with a scotch pad may be required.

Warranty

Are you sitting down? When properly installed, the manufacturer offers a limited 100 Year Guarantee. Please see their documents for details.

Where to Use It

Ghostshield 8505 is typically used anywhere you would park a car. Normally that includes driveways and garage floors but there are other applications as well.
